9th: Korea 2004

9th Annual Meeting, Seoul, Republic of Korea, 13 September 2004

The 9th Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum, hosted by the National Human Rights Commission of the Republic of Korea, was a one-day closed session meeting of APF members.

The meeting was held immediately prior to the 7th International Conference for National Human Rights Institutions.

Outcomes of the 9th Annual Meeting included:

Membership

• Jordan National Centre for Human Rights admitted as an associate member.

Advisory Council of Jurists

• The Forum Council requested that a revised draft reference on the prevention of torture during detention be developed and sent to all councillors for their consideration and adoption.

Management

• The National Human Rights Commission of Korea was elected Chairperson of the Forum Council. The National Human Rights Commission of Nepal and the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia were elected to the two positions of Deputy Chairpersons.

10th Annual Meeting

The Forum Council accepted the offer of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia to host the 10th Annual Meeting in 2005.
