The APF and UN Women have agreed to work cooperatively on a range of practical projects to advance the human rights of women and girls.

The APF and UN Women have agreed to work cooperatively to advance the human rights of women and girls in the Asia Pacific region.

A Letter of Intent signed in August 2014 highlighted the shared interest of both organisations in promoting gender equality and identified areas for greater collaboration.

One particular area of cooperation will focus on bolstering the knowledge and skills of staff of national human rights institutions in the region in relation to gender equality and the human rights of women and girls.

The APF and UN Women will also work together to provide technical assistance to national human rights institutions in relation to gender equality and the rights of women and girls, where requested.

"We are delighted to be working in close cooperation with UN Women," said Pip Dargan, Deputy Director of the APF secretariat and APF Gender Focal Point.

"Our joint efforts will deliver a number of tangible benefits for APF members and support the important and practical work they are doing to promote and protect the rights of women and girls."

UN Women is the United Nations organisation dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women around the world.
