The Commission recently provided human rights counselling services for migrant workers to help them address issues they are facing.

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea recently provided human rights counselling services for migrant workers to listen to their experiences and identify measures to better protect their rights.

The counselling services were provided at the Ansan Migrant Center 'Village without Border' on 13 November 2016.

Migrant workers were able to access advice and support on a range of issues, including human rights infringements, discrimination, labour rights, legal affairs and immigration.

To ensure migrant workers could receive expert advice, NHRCK, staff were joined by the supervisor from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, public officials in charge of immigration, lawyers, certified labor attorneys and interpreters.

The NHRCK will transfer the cases it received to the relevant departments for follow up action and identify systemic issues across these cases that can be addressed through policy recommendations to better promote and protect the rights of migrant workers.
