The National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia and the Equal Rights Trust have co-hosted a workshop for local civil society groups and trade unions

The National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia and the Equal Rights Trust co-hosted a workshop on "Improving the monitoring and effective implementation of core international conventions in GSP+ countries", from 28-30 November 2017 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The Equal Rights Trust, based in London, is currently implementing a project in Mongolia which involves the Trust providing strategic, technical and financial support to civil society and trade unions in Mongolia to improve the monitoring and implementation of key UN human rights and ILO labour rights conventions.

This three-day workshop forms part of this project, with financial assistance provided by the European Union.

The workshop sought to improve the knowledge of representatives from civil society organisations and trade unions on UN and ILO core conventions related to the principles of equality and non-discrimination, as well as to strengthen their capacity to monitor and conduct advocacy activities towards the effective implementation of these conventions.

Thirty percent of participants were from NGOs actively working on human rights issues in different provinces across Mongolia.
