Capacity Building Workshop
16 February 2012
The two-day conference will be followed by a one-day capacity-building workshop on International Criminal Court and Gender Justice and the Asia Pacific Region. Approximately 15 to 20 delegates from NHRIs and NGOs in the Asia Pacific will be invited to attend.
The workshop, which will be conducted by Ms Brigid Inder, Executive Director of Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice, will bring together those involved in advocacy around the Rome Statute and its implementation, with a specific focus on the role of the Court in relation to gender justice.
Against the backdrop of the conference, the workshop will enable practitioners and advocates to discuss the value of the Statute and the International Criminal Court system in addressing gender injustice, and the role of domestic jurisdictions in fostering a global system capable of addressing human rights violations, particularly those committed against women, by fully ratifying and implementing the Statute.
The workshop will also facilitate the strengthening of networks and encourage the exchange of ideas and strategies in relation to improving gender justice in the Asia Pacific region.
