The National Human Rights Committee has signed a "memorandum of cooperation" with representative offices of expatriate communities in Qatar.

The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has signed a "memorandum of cooperation" with representative offices of expatriate communities in Qatar in order to improve the process for taking up issues of concern to those respective communities.

The Peninsula reported that the memorandum was signed by representatives of four expatriate communities (from India, Philippines, Nigeria and Nepal) at a meeting hosted by the NHRC.

The agreement seeks to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the parties.

According to the report, the NHRC agreed to appoint researchers from its legal affairs department to work as liaison points with the representative offices.

The NHRC representatives will support the process of registering cases being submitted for study and follow-up action.

The memorandum seeks to strengthen cooperation in order to address the problems faced by the respective expatriate communities, the NHRC said.
