United Nations

The APF is actively involved in the work of the United Nations.

We have developed close working relationships with various United Nations agencies, in particular the OHCHR, as well as the UNDP, UNESCO and the UNHCR.

The APF was a strong and effective advocate for the independent participation of national human rights institutions in the Human Rights Council, which was established in 2006 to replace the former UN Commission on Human Rights.

The participation of the APF in the work of the Human Rights Council is particularly important as the Asia Pacific is the only region in the world without a comprehensive inter-governmental human rights mechanism.
