Human Rights Education, Media & Racism

The APF Regional Workshop on Human Rights Education, Media and Racism was hosted by the Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission and held in Sydney on 15-16 July 2002. The workshop was co-sponsored and financed by the OHCHR and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).

The purpose of the workshop was to provide APF members and other NHRIs with strategies and skills to strengthen their capacity to utilise the media to promote human rights education, particularly as it relates to educating against racism.

The specific objectives of the workshop were to strengthen and promote information exchanges; establish best practice standards; and develop networks between NHRIs, the media, the OHCHR, governments, regional and national human rights NGOs and other international agencies.
