Human Trafficking
The APF Regional Workshop on Trafficking and National Human Rights Institutions: Cooperating to End Impunity for Traffickers and Secure Justice for Victims was hosted by the Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, 20-23 November 2005
The workshop themes provided a realistic framework for constructive discussion and practical outcomes. In addition the workshop’s objectives reflected the APF’s commitment to the strengthening of institutional mechanisms for the protection of trafficked persons.
Workshop participants included APF members from Afghanistan, Australia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Timor Leste. Non-governmental organisations from the region were also an important part of the workshop.
Financial support for the workshop was provided by the New Zealand Government (NZAID), HREOC and the Asia Regional Cooperation to Prevent People Trafficking, an initiative supported by the Australian Government (AusAID).
