Senior Executive Officers Network

The Senior Executive Officers Network (SEO) was established in 2002.

It provides an opportunity for the senior management of NHRIs in the Asia Pacific to share information and expertise around organisational policies, management practices, staff development strategies.

It also encourages communication about the APF's regional projects, including staff exchanges, training programs, annual meetings and workshops, and participation in United Nations and other international fora.

In 2007, the SEO Network established a governance structure in line with the APF Forum Council, consisting of a Chairperson and two Deputy Chairpersons.

The senior executives who currently hold these positions are:

  • Chairperson: H.E. Dr Muhuieddeen Touq, Commissioner General, Jordan National Centre for Human Rights
  • Deputy Chairperson: Hashimah Nik Jaafar, Secretary, Human Rights Commission of Malaysia
  • Deputy Chairperson: Dr Choochai Supawongse, Secretary-General, National Human Rights Commission of Thailand.

These positions are rotated on a regular basis.

SEO Roundtable

In 2011, the Australian Human Rights Commission hosted an SEO Roundtable.

The informal nature of the roundtable was designed to provide participants with an opportunity to discuss the context in which they operate and explore a range of management issues, including:

  • the relationship with commissioners
  • strategic leadership
  • staff development
  • evaluation techniques
  • strategic engagement with the APF
