Working with others
The APF plays an active role at the international and regional level in the protection and promotion of human rights.
We work closely with the United Nations, especially the mechanisms of the Human Rights Council. We also encourage and support the participation our members.
This engagement with the international human rights system is particularly important given that the Asia Pacific is the only region without a comprehensive intergovernmental human rights mechanism.
The APF makes a significant contribution to the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (ICC) and its Sub-Committee on Accreditation. We ensure that our members have a strong voice in the issues discussed and debated by the ICC.
Closer to home, the APF supports the development and strengthening of regional human rights mechanisms, such as the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.
We also engage with other major regional organisations, including the Pacific Islands Forum.
To support our members and help bring about positive change, we collaborate with like-minded organisations committed to advancing human rights.
Our project partners include the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the United Nations Development Programme, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions and governments.
The APF has a diversified base of donors who support our activities. We are grateful for their ongoing support and the commitment they share to advancing human rights in our region.
