ICC International Conference
The ICC International Conference involves national human rights institutions (NHRIs) and representatives of United Nations agencies, international organisations and civil society.
The purpose of the International Conference is to develop and strengthen cooperation among NHRIs and other conference participants, to discuss human rights issues and to ensure their follow-up at the national level.
The APF has been an active participant at the International Conference since 1996, producing background papers and other relevant materials for conference participants.
Since 1991 the International Conference has been held every two years alternating between Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Asia Pacific.
Previous International Conferences have been held in Kenya (2008; link to meeting papers), Bolivia (2006), Korea (2004), Denmark (2002) and Morocco (2000).
10th International Conference
The 10th International Conference, held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 8 – 10 October 2010, examined the theme of Business and Human Rights.
Drawing together participants from more than 80 countries, the conference discussed the practical role that national human rights institutions can play to bolster human rights standards and outcomes in a globalised world.
