The APF is seeking a qualified Project Officer to support its comprehensive program of support for national human rights institutions (NHRIs) in the Pacific.

This is a critical regional project management role, offering career development for the successful candidate. An initial two-year contract may be extended.

Th is newly-established position will be based in Fiji.

About the role

You will be the go-to person in the Pacific region, coordinating and contributing to APF projects.

Your role will involve:

  • APF training and development liaison to support NHRIs
  • Supporting the establishment of NHRIs in the Pacific
  • Representing APF at meetings and other fora; making presentations
  • Administrative, organisational and logistical arrangements as required

Skills required

You are currently in an administration, project management or support role. You are a strong communicator with proven project management skills who work well, and collegiately, with systems and processes.

Additionally you have:

  • A high degree of attention to detail and a strategic mindset
  • Strong relationship building skills and ideally a government and UN network in the Pacific
  • Resourcefulness and the ability to work independently as well as part of team
  • Confidence in presenting in person to senior stakeholders
  • Experience of working inclusively with diverse groups across the Pacific sub-region
  • A high degree of personal drive and integrity and calmness under pressure
  • Native fluency in a Pacific Island language (other than English), with full working rights for Fiji.
