Commission joins campaign for women’s safety in public places

The campaign will promote policy reforms to comprehensively address gender-based violence and harassment in public places.
The Centre for Research and Information's youth platform, Young Bangla, in collaboration with UNDP and the National Human Rights Commission, has launched a major campaign on Women's Safety in Public Places.
The campaign – launched via a webinar on 14 October 2020 – aims to promote positive change in attitudes and behaviours, particularly on women safety concerns, through a major awareness raising program, especially targeting young people.
In addition, the campaign will promote policy reforms to comprehensively address gender-based violence and harassment in public places.
The campaign will comprise of an action plan for disseminating information, capacity enhancement training for stakeholders and advocacy for policy and legal reform.
The campaign launch included a panel discussion involving:
- State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira
- State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak
- Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Zuena Aziz
- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed
Ten leading youth organisations, in five divisional cities and five districts across Bangladesh, will implement the campaign on Women's Safety in Public Places.
