New Chairperson appointed to lead Commission

His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Shuwain A’mer Al Hosni’s was appointed as the Chairperson of the Oman Human Rights Commission in June 2017.

His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Shuwain A'mer Al Hosni's was appointed as the Chairperson of the Oman Human Rights Commission in June 2017 and now holds the mandate of continuing to help establish the principals of human rights in the Sultanate of Oman.

His current role came by Royal Decree, issued by his Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, who has endorsed Sheikh Abdullah for this role due to his commitment and service to his country.

Sheikh Abdullah's professional journey has taken him from a start in media to the top of Government service.

His career progression within the Ministry of Information resulted in initially becoming Director of Public Relations and later being appointed as Director General of Information.

In 2001, he was appointed Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information. Having successfully held this position for over a decade, Sheikh Abdullah was honoured by being appointed a Member of State Council, the Sultanates of Oman's highest legislative council – a position which he still holds today.
