The Commission's goal is to help build a professional public service and contribute to Mongolian workplaces that promote gender equality.

A working group headed by Commissioner Oyunchimeg Purev visited Sukhbaatar province from 23-25 September 2019 to assist with implementation of the Law on Promotion of Gender Equality.

The working group has so far visited 20 of Mongolia's 21 provinces to promote action on gender equality and the rights of women and girls.

During the visits, the working group conducts gender and human rights training for public administrative managers, with the goal of helping build a professional public service and contribute to Mongolian workplaces that promote gender equality.

In addition, the working group conducts an inquiry in each province it visits.

During the inquiry, the working group reviews any rules and administrative acts of public organisations to see whether they comply with relevant laws and whether employers are supporting gender equality and labour rights in the workplace.

The working group involves around 10 public organisations in its inquiry.

If the working group identifies any violations, the Commission issues a letter to the relevant public body to remedy the situation and seeks a response on the actions that have been taken.

This project is being implemented with support of the United Nations Development Programme.
