Name and role:

Nedal Magableh PhD, Director of the International Relations Department at the Jordan National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR)

Could you tell us a bit about your role?

My job involves establishing strong working relationships for the Centre with a variety of governmental and non-governmental organizations involved in human rights.

What do you love about your job?

The primary responsibility of NHRIs is to protect and promote human rights. I believe that the best way to fulfil this responsibility is to enjoy working with partners and stakeholders to protect and promote human rights.

What’s the most challenging aspect of your job?

Inadequate human and financial resources.

Advocating for people's rights and freedoms is what human rights is all about. I believe in human rights, and I strive to make a positive influence through my work.

Nedal Magableh, Jordan NCHR

What is your proudest achievement?

My human rights experience is wide and diverse. I have been working in the NCHR since 2007. In addition to my current position I have worked as an Imprest Administrator from 2015 to 2019 on the “EU Support to Civil Society in Jordan” project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the NCHR. This project achieved great results on the ground. I consider this to be my proudest achievement.

What is your favourite book?

I enjoy reading legal books relating to human rights.
