The Memorandum of Understanding will help strengthen coordination and cooperation between both organisations.

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Royal Academy of Police to strengthen coordination and cooperation between both organisations.

The signing of this memorandum reflects the NIHR's terms of reference to disseminate and foster the culture of human rights, especially with regards to education and training in the human rights field, in order to contribute to the dissemination of the human rights culture and exchange of expertise.

NIHR Chairperson Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan Abul praised the important role adopted by the Police Royal Academy in preparing, qualifying and developing Ministry of Interior staff, including law-enforcement staff, military staff and civil employees, in various areas, including human rights.

The memo was signed by NIHR Chairperson Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan Abul and Commander of the Academy HE Colonel Ammar Al-Sayed.

The NIHR and the Police Royal Academy hold a number of joint training programs to establish the international human rights standards in police work in order to promote, disseminate and integrate such standards in the work of law enforcement public security officers.
